A DOOR INTO HINDI

Devanagari Font Testing Page

The Devanagari Unicode font (e.g. Raghindi, Arial Unicode MS, Code2000, etc.) should display correctly on your computer before you begin to use this site. Some browser/operating system combinations display Hindi, but are unable to handle the combining forms of the letters (conjunct glyphs).

To determine whether your browser and operating system configuration can display the Hindi fonts properly, look at the table below.

The word in the left column should match the word in the right column.

The words in this column should look like

the words in this column

नमस्ते

If the columns do not match, your browser is not displaying the Hindi font properly. (Note: Due to differences in font styles, the two columns may differ slightly in line thickness or character design, but the basic forms should be the same.)

To fix this, you can try several things:

- change your browser's font and language settings

- use a different browser

- update your browser by downloading the latest version

- try a different Unicode Hindi font

- upgrade to a newer operating system (but beware of Apple OSX)
