22.1	Oblique with time expressions

Time expressions will normally be in oblique:

next week अगले हफ़्ते

last month पिछले महीने

that day उस दिन

this year इस साल

Notes:

No postposition is used with the above expressions.

The postposition में is used with names of months: अगले मार्च में

Remember: the postposition को is used with names of days of the week.

The postposition को is also used when a specific date is mentioned: ३० मार्च को

Examples:

वह इस महीने गुजरात जा रही है। = She is going to Gujarat this month.

मैंने उस दिन एक अच्छी मूवी देखी। = I saw a good movie that day.

मैं अगले हफ़्ते भारत जाऊँगी। = I’ll go to India next week.

वह नवम्बर में मुंबई जाएगी। = She will go to Mumbai in November.

वहीदा रहमान शुक्रवार को नहीं आएगी। = Waheeda Rehman will not come on Friday.

Note the following non-oblique uses of words for units of time:

अप्रैल एक बहुत सुंदर महीना है। = April is a very beautiful month.

इस काम के लिये दो हफ़्ते लगेंगे। = It will take two weeks for this work.
