A Door Into Hindi: Lesson 22

The verb चुकना is used to mean: “to finish doing” or “to already have done”.

Formula: Verb Root + चुकना (conjugated)

Note: चुकना never takes the ने construction, whether the verb is transitive or not.

Examples:

वह यह किताब पढ़ चुका है। = He has (already) read this book. = He has finished reading this book.

मैं वहाँ जा चुकी थी। = I had finished going there. = I had already gone there.

वह खा चुकी होगी। = She will have finished eating. = She will already have eaten.
