The verb होना and auxiliary verbs


The simple present tense conjugation of the verb होना is given below. The conjugated forms of होना are used just like the verb "to be" is used in English.

These forms of the verb होना also function as the auxiliary verbs in many other verb tense constructions, including the present imperfect and present progressive conjugations as described in 2.4 and 2.5 below. Memorize this chart as soon as you can.
