RV + कर = having V-ed

View movie about RV + कर = having V-ed

We put कर after the Root Verb to express the idea of “having done” or “after doing “ the verb. Examples:

खा कर = having eaten

देख कर = having seen

A. मैं फ़िल्म देख कर लायब्रेरी जाऊँगी ।

I will go to the library having seen the film (after seeing the film), or

I will see the film and (then) I will go to the library.

B. देख कर खाअो ( or खाइये )

Look and eat (literally: Eat, having looked.)

C. खाकर देखिये (or देखो)

Eat and see (maybe you’ll like it).

Note that with the verb करना this construction sounds odd: कर कर

So we use कर के instead:

कर के = having done काम कर के = having worked

तुम मेरे घर टैलिफ़ोन कर के अाऔ।

Call me (first) and (then) come. (= Don’t come without calling me first).
